The Bogroot Growths dungeon be found in the north east corner Sparkfly Swamp, north of the Asuran Outpost, Gadd’s Encampment. You should have reached Gadd’s Encampment as part of the storyline quests that take you from Eye of the North to the Tarnished Coast. Packed with Hekets, Insects and Plants, this is a great dungeon to play through with some Minion Masters. You can very quickly build up a huge party and just rampage through the levels.

Head north from Gadd’s Encampment. Right at the top of the Sparkfly Swamp, in the north east corner, you can find the entrance to the Bogroot Growths dungeon, as well as the two Asura who will give out the repeatable dungeon quests. The two quests are mutually exclusive - Tekk and Giriff have been conducting experiments on the Heket, which have resulted in two warring tribes relocating to the same dungeon. Accept a quest from either Asura, and then clear out the dungeon.

Although the Heket that spawn are the same level, their insignia and names will change depending on which mission you have accepted. Playing for the Red side (taking the Giriff’s War quest from Giriff) will result in a slightly easier time, as the final boss fight is a bit easier, and there seem to be less aggro events that trigger as you progress through the dungeon.

There are not that many secrets that can be revealed with the Light of Deldrimor skill. This is partly because Bogroot Growths is only a two level dungeon, and also because a party with Minion Masters can be so devastating.

  • Level 1:
    • Dwarven Ghost spawns near the end of the level, as you approach the entrance to Level 2
    • a Dwarven Ghost spawns near the second beacon
    • a hidden treasure chest spawns between the third resurrection shrine and the end of the level
  • Level 2:
    • a hidden treasure close to the start of the level
    • 2 more hidden treasures as you follow the path

When the Hekets and their bosses have been defeated, a Bogroot Chest spawns. This will contain 1 random item from the following list for each player in your party:

  • unique green items, exclusive to the Bogroot Chest:
    • Bogroot Rod
    • Bogroot Staff
    • Bogroot Focus
  • gold items:
    • Emerald Edge
    • Moldavite Staff
  • Rare crafting materials:
    • Diamond
    • Ruby
    • Onyx Gemstone
  • a Naga Shaman Polymock Piece

You also get 1000 Asuran Reputation Points when you successfully complete the quest. Sorry, I haven’t completed this in Hard Mode yet, so I’m not sure of the exact amount of Reputation Points you’d get. Guesses are it should be around 1500 or so.

Minion Masters should be required members of any parties, along with characters capable of dishing out significant AoE damage. There are many large mobs which are tightly packed together, so this can be really effective tactic. Backfire, Diversion and interrupts are also recommended skills - there are lots of Mesmers and Necromancers, and you’ll want to keep them occupied to prevent energy denial and hex attacks.

As with several other dungeons in Eye of the North, Bogroot Growths makes many references to popular gaming culture. In this case, the mission designs and dialogues draw heavily on the Red vs. Blue machinima created by RoosterTeeth.com.
