Now is a great time of year to be talking about Secret Lair of the Snowmen in Eye of the North. One of the best places in the game to acquire huge amounts of Dwarven Reputation Points to boost your Deldrimor Title Track, you have to fight your way through waves of Snowmen and finally defeat Freezie to complete the quest.

We posted previously about the Secret Lair of the Snowmen - click that link to check out a video walkthrough (at great speed, I might add :-) To enter the dungeon you’ll need to get the quest Lost Treasure of King Hundar from the Dwarf Koris Deeprunner, in Umbral Grotto. You can find some more information on Koris Deeprunner here.

Although your enemies are snowmen, there are a few things to clear up. First - yes, they do do cold damage. However fire does not do extra damage against the snowmen. They do leave corpses, which can be exploited by Necromancers, and they are also susceptible to conditions. Due to the large numbers of enemy snowmen, Minion Masters can be devastatingly effective.

The snowballs that the snowmen throw are spells, so anti-caster skills like Defiant Was Xinrae, as well as Edge of Extinction and Shields Up! are all useful counters, as well as the usual interrupt Mesmers and Rangers.

Given the dungeon is only a single level, packed with low level foes, it’s not surprising that there’s only one Light of Deldrimor reward - a Dwarven Ghost next to the area map.

Once you’ve defeated the snowman boss, Freezie, a Chest of Wintersday Past will appear, spawning one of the following items for each player (2 in Hard Mode):

  • Eggnog
  • Fruitcake
  • Peppermint Candy Cane
  • Rainbow Candy Cane
  • Spiked Eggnog
  • Wintergreen Candy Cane
  • Yuletide Tonic
  • Snowman Summoner

The first time you complete Secret Lair of the Snowmen you’ll gain 500 Dwarven Reputation Points (750 in Hard Mode). Each subsequent time you get 100 points (150 in Hard Mode). By talking to the Beacon of Droknar and picking up the Dwarven Raider blessing, you can gain between 600 and 1900 Dwarven Reputation Points (excluding the reputation points you get for completing the mission), depending on which Dwarven Raider blessings you get. This can increase to between 1300 and 3500 Dwarven reputation points in Hard Mode.

With a good AoE team build, it’s possible to charge through Secret Lair of the Snowmen in 15 minutes, using just Henchmen and Heroes. It’s definitely one of the fastest dungeons in Eye of the North, and easily the quickest way to boost your standing in the Deldrimor Title Track.
