Elite skills in Eye of the North

Each Guild Wars campaign has had a selection of Elite skills characters can acquire. Elite skills are rare, powerful, and can be taxing to use, which is why your character is limited to only one Elite skill on their skill bar. In this coming series of posts I’m going to be looking at what Elite skills are available for each profession, and where to find them.

To capture an Elite skill, you must defeat a boss in any area (explorable, dungeon, mission, etc.). Bosses are characterised by the glowing aura that surrounds them - the colour matches their profession. So Elementalist bosses glow red, for example.

One the boss has been defeated, stand near their corpse, and use your Signet of Capture. A screen pops up showing you the list of available skills that can be gained from nearby dead bosses. Select the skill you want, and it will replace the Signet of Capture on your skill bar.

A couple of points to note here. First of all, you can only capture skills from bosses whose profession is the same as your primary or secondary. So if you want to grab the relevant Skill Hunter Title Track, you’re going to need to spend some time changing your secondary profession and farming bosses.

The second thing to bear in mind is that bosses will also have non-Elite skills available, so you need to be careful you choose the right skill to capture.

The good part is that, until you return to a town or outpost (or finish the mission) you can potentially have two Elite skills on your character’s skill bar. This can be handy for areas like the Ring of Fire missions in Prophecies, for example.
