Elite Skills for Elementalists in Eye of the North
As the main character I play in Guild Wars is an Elementalist, I’m glad to see the big range of Elite Skills which are available in Eye of the North. Some of these are available in previous Guild Wars campaigns, but if you don’t have them all then this is a good spread of skills to stock up on.
Air Magic
Invoke Lightning
Target foe and up to two other foes near your target are struck for 10…82 lightning damage. This spell has 25% armor penetration. If you are not under the effects of an Enchantment, this spell causes Exhaustion.
Invoke Lightning can be obtained from:
- Shadow Spawn (Raven’s Point)
Mind Shock
Target foe suffers 10…42 lightning damage. If you have more energy than target foe, that foe suffers 10…42 additional lightning damage and is knocked down. This spell has 25% armor penetration. This spell causes exhaustion.
Mind Shock can be obtained from:
- Edielh Shockhunter (Jaga Moraine)
Ride the Lightning
You ride the lightning to target foe. That foe is struck for 10…82 lightning damage. This spell has 25% armor penetration and causes Exhaustion.

- Thraexis Thundermaw (Grothmar Wardowns)

- Strout Flamebourne (Sacnoth Valley (Only during Fire and Pain)
- Tyndir Flamecaller (Cathedral of Flames level 2)
Fire Magic
Mind Blast
Target foe is struck for 15…51 fire damage. If you have more Energy than target foe, you gain 1…7 Energy.
Mind Blast can be obtained from:
- Kakei Stormcaller (Blood Washes Blood)
- Flamemaster Maultooth (Warband of Brothers)
Savannah Heat
You create Savannah Heat at target foe’s location. For 5 seconds, all nearby foes take 5…17 fire damage each second and an additional 5…17 fire damage for each second this Spell has been in effect.
Savannah Heat can be obtained from:
- Lok the Mischievous (Arachni’s Haunt)
- Regent of Flame (Catacombs of Kathandrax)
Searing Flames
Target foe and all nearby foes are struck with Searing Flames. Foes already on fire when this skill is cast are struck for 10…82 fire damage. Foes not already on fire begin Burning for 1…6 seconds.

Water Magic

Shatterstone can be obtained from:
- Fragment of Antiquities (Sepulchre of Dragrimmar)
- Whiteout (Jaga Moraine)
- Regent of Ice (Sepulchre of Dragrimmar)
- Ancient Vaettir (Raven’s Point)
Ward Against Harm
Create a Ward Against Harm at this location. For 8…18 seconds, non-spirit allies in this area have 12…50 armor against fire damage and 12…22 armor against other damage.
Ward Against Harm can be obtained from:
- Frazar Frostfur (Grothmar Wardowns, during Against the Charr)
- Spafrod Iceblood (Sacnoth Valley)
Water Trident
Send out a fast-moving Water Trident striking target foe for 10…58 cold damage if it hits. If it hits a moving foe, that foe is knocked down.
Water Trident can be obtained from:
- Elsnil Frigidheart (Ice Cliff Chasms)
- Gloop (Ooze Pit)
Given my character has a Pyromancer build, Elite Skills like Searing Flames and Savannah Heat are very useful. Searing Flames in particular is an old favourite - with proper thought for your build, you can spam Searing Flames and chain it with other skills that do extra damage to enemies who are on fire.
