A flood of Guild Wars 2 news!
Back from holiday, and it seems NCSoft and ArenaNet have been spilling the beans on Guild Wars 2 at gamescom, Cologne. There are several good Q&A interviews with the developers, which shed some light on the game design, mechanics, and how it’s going to feel to existing Guild Wars players.
Pause.com have an interview with ArenaNet studio head Mike O’Brien, which covers the new event system and the player-affected environment.
IGN.com have a video interview with Game designer Jeff Grubb and Art Director Daniel Dociu. They give the low down on the new underwater environments, as well as some background on what’s happened to Tyria in the last 200 years. Oh, and the dragons ![]()
IGN also have an interview with Mike O’Brien, Eric Flannum, and Ree Soesbee. In it they discuss the storytelling issues with a persistent, non-instanced world environment, and also the five playable races we’ll be seeing.
Eurogamer has a good Guild Wars 2 Preview interview with Lead designer Eric Flannum, covering the persistent world, the new PvP systems, and what they’ve tried to change from Guild Wars.

ArenaNet have also released a Guild Wars 2 trailer, which suddenly moves from concept art to actual in-game footage.
Guild Wars 2 is looking pretty fantastic – I can’t wait for the open beta.
