An Odd Eye of the North dungeon: Fronis Irontoe’s Lair

Fronis Irontoe’s Lair is an Eye of the North dungeon with a difference. It can only be reached by taking a solo quest with a particularly insane Dwarf called Kilroy Stonekin. The dungeon is just a single level, and the quest requires you to join Kilroy and – basically – beat up a bunch of Stone Summit Dwarves.

Kilroy Stonekin can be found in the Norn settlement of Gunnar’s Hold, and offers a series of quests to teach you the art of brawling. Not quite boxing, it represents a unique Dwarven take on combat, and boils down to beating people up – usually with Brass Knuckles.

Having progressed through several started quests, Kilroy offers you the chance to join him to beat up Fronis Irontoe, a Stone Summit Dwarf who has setup camp nearby. If you agree, you’ll be given your brawling skills, and transported to Fronis Irontoe’s Lair, a single level dungeon containing Stone Summit.

When your health reaches zero, you are knocked down, and a countdown timer starts. If you activate the skill to stand up again, you can continue fighting. This means it is possible to complete the dungeon without dying, which is a great way to level up characters wanting to gain the Survivor Title Track.

Once you’ve defeated Fronis Irontoe, Irontoe’s Chest will spawn. This will contain either one Dwarven Ale or an Aged Dwarven Ale for each party member. You will also receive 500 Dwarven Reputation Points for the first time you complete the quest (750 in Hard Mode) and 100 Dwarven Reputation Points each subsequent time (150 in Hard Mode).

As this is a solo quest, there’s not much in the way of tips or strategy to offer. Just get in there and start smacking the Stone Summit around!

Many of the dungeons in Eye of the North poke fun at popular culture. Kilroy Stonekin will occasionally shout “Kiiiiillroooooy Stooooonekiiiiin!!” – not only a useful hex removal shout, but also a nod to the Leeroy Jenkins meme. The quest name also makes fun of the famous Nintendo game Mike Tyson’s Punch Out.
