The Dwarven dungeons in Eye of the North are great fun. Very atmospheric, with lots of giant ice caverns, abandoned mining gear, and strange construction platforms. Darkrime Delves is one of the largest dungeons in Eye of the North – apart from the spectacular scenery, there are a lot of very nice rewards to be gained with its depths.

Darkrime Delves is located in the far north of the Bjora Marches, in the Far Shiverpeaks. To fully explore the dungeon, you’ll need to speak to the Norn Einarr Frostcleft, and get the quest The Misanthropic Jotun Principle. This quest requires you to explore Darkrime Delves and kill Havok Soulwail, and is repeatable.

Spread over three levels, the dungeon contains Nightmares, Dryders, Elementals, Jotun and Stone Summit Dwarves. Minion Masters can be very useful here due to the number of exploitable corpses. Ward of Stability or the Dwarf skill “Don’t Trip!” are also recommended, to counter the Jotun’s frequent use of Giant’s Stomp.

There are several Hidden Treasures to be found with Light of Deldrimor, along with a secret room:

  • Level 1:
    • a Dwarven Ghost can be found next to the map
  • Level 2:
    • There is a Dwarven Ghost next to the map
    • Two Hidden Treasures can be found next to the entrance of the second frozen zone
  • Level 3:
    • Next to the map is a Hidden Treasure
    • There is also a Hidden Treasure next to Havok Soulwail
    • At the southern most point, near the map, is a Secret Switch. This will reveal a secret room midway between the two Resurrection Shrines on the map. This room contains a Hidden Treasure and a Dwarven Ghost.

Once Havok Soulwail has been defeated, the Havok’s Chest will spawn. This will contain one of the following items for each player:

  • Warrior Havok’s Maul (unique green item)
  • Warrior Havok’s Shield (unique green item)
  • Dervish The Soulwailer (unique green item)
  • Cobalt Staff (gold item)
  • Demon Tongue Scythe (gold item)
  • Stygian Reaver (gold item)
  • Violet Edge (gold item)
  • Diamond (rare crafting material)
  • Ruby (rare crafting material)
  • Sapphire (rare crafting material)
  • Onyx Gemstone (rare crafting material)
  • A gold Polymock Piece

You will also gain 1500 Norn Reputation Points (2250 in Hard Mode).

The potential rewards for Darkrime Delves are amongst the best of all the repeatable quest in Eye of the North. Partially that’s a reflection on the distance to travel between the quest giver and the actual dungeon, and partially due to the large size of the Darkrime Delves.
