Eye of the North heroes: Anton
Anton is one of the more ambiguous heroes in Eye of the North. Having escaped a Death Camp in Ascalon during the confusion of the Searing, he has fled north and joined the Ebon Vanguard. Although he’s currently loyal to them, this situation may change depending on what happens in the fight ahead.

The lore in the Eye of the North manual has this say about Anton:
Anton has come far since his days as a prisoner in Surmia awaiting execution. While others curse the Charr, Anton privately blesses their invasion—without it, he would never have escaped Surmia and fled north. He survived for many years by raiding the Charr, eventually leading to his capture. Freed by Captain Langmar, he joined the Ebon Vanguard and now serves them as a scout, utilizing his Assassin skills—for once—for the betterment of more people than just himself.
Although he does not consider himself a brave individual, Anton does feel a certain amount of loyalty to the Ebon Vanguard, and has no plans to betray them. Should Captain Langmar die, of course, that situation could change quickly—and the last they will see of Anton is a sheathed blade vanishing into the darkness.
Anton appears in a number of quests in Eye of the North. He can first be seen as a spectator in the Norn Fighting Tournament. He then appears in Assault on the Stronghold, as one of the soldiers you save from the Charr. He can also be found in Sacnoth Valley during The Assassin’s Revenge quest.
To unlock Anton and make him available as a hero, you need to complete three quests which form part of a separate story arc. They are:
- Failure To Communicate (from Captain Langmar in Grothmar Wardowns, after completing Assault on the Stronghold)
- The Imploding Past (also from Captain Langmar)
- The Assassin’s Revenge
- Critical Defense
- Death Blossom (The Last Starfighter reference anyone?)
- Fox Fangs
- Jagged Strike
- Resurrection Signet
- Shadow Refuge
Anton’s default skills are fairly standard Assassin’s skills:
I’m not massively sure about Assassin heroes in Eye of the North, or indeed in other chapters of Guild Wars. They can be difficult to control and tend to be the first to die, usually because they are sent in close to the enemy and beyond the healing area of your Monks.
