Guild Wars PvP and PvE skill balance changes
There’s an update from the Guild Wars developers at ArenaNet, and it’s a bit of a biggy. Starting on the 21st May, there are going to be some skill balancing changes taking place. Nothing new there, that’s a constant activity that happens each week, as the Guild Wars devs ensure no one build becomes too powerful, and that there’s a fair and (relatively) level playing field for the PvP players.
However, this week’s update will start splitting existing skills into PvE and PvP versions, which is a fairly major change. It makes a lot of sense – there are balancing issues which are unique to each type of gameplay, and rather than (for example) gimping PvE players with a skill change that helps PvP players, the devs can now focus on the best player experience for each type of player.
Skills that differ in PvP play will have (PvP) listed at the end of their names when viewed in PvP outposts and matches, which will help make the changes a bit more obvious.
On top of that, the devs have posted up a detailed page on the Guild Wars wiki, detailing the ongoing changes they are making.
You can find the page at http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Developer_Updates – I’d suggest checking back at least once a week to get abreast of any changes that are happening behind the scenes.
